Jacinta and Roy
Destination Wedding Highlight of the Year
Jacinta & Roy met in early 2009 when they were only 16. Her parents were away for the weekend, so Jacinta decided to throw a small gathering which ‘accidentally’ escalated into a party. “ A good friend a of mine had rocked up and he bought Roy. It was a case of right person, wrong time,” Jacinta says. But as fate would have it, almost seven years later, they found their way back to each other, and on September 14, 2019 in front of 60 family and friends, they married in Bali.
Roy proposed in Queenstown, New Zealand at Onson Hot Pools on the 14th of December 2017. “We had been together just short of one year, so it came as such a shock that I actually thought he was joking. It was the most picturesque places I have ever seen”. We love to travel, and throughout all of our traveling, we always felt such a strong connection to Bali because of its beautiful culture. The food, the music, the island lifestyle—it’s just something we’ve always been drawn too." So, a destination celebration felt like the natural choice.
The pair fell hard for Puri Temple Hill , the estates had perfect spaces for each part of their special day—the ceremony by the chapel, cocktail hour in another garden, dinner under a natural string of lights, and dancing under the stars. Of her wedding, Jacinta says, “I knew I wanted it to be outdoors and have a chic, sophisticated and happy vibe.’ The private estate Puri Temple Hill embodied that vision.
Thankfully, extraordinaire planner Tristan Moy of Bali Brides came on board to plan the perfect destination wedding for the lovebirds.

"Every corner tells a story!” “It doesn’t hurt that it’s a breathtaking property with several lush hidden gardens.”
Jacinta and her bridesmaids wore coordinating pajamas and slippers as they had their hair and make up done by Ranny Bronzer and her team in the Puri Temple Hill Bridal Suites where champagne was served.
While the vibrant welcome party had a more relaxed vibe, every detail of the wedding day was formal and elegant- starting with Jacinta’s wedding dress! She said “yes” to the gorgeous Zavana bridal couture gown and a cathedral-length statement silk-tulle veil to “add some drama”. She paired her gown with Jimmy Choo heels and accessorised with a pair of statement diamond earrings and rings from Stefan’s Diamonds. The groom wore a crisp shirt and pants with a charming boutonniere. His groomsmen also donned the same sharp style and paired with shoes by Politix.
Jacinta’s brother walked her down the aisle to “Tenerife Sea” by Ed Sheeran.
Guests gathered on the chapel’s deck for a ceremony overlooking the Jimbaran coastline and Limestone Cliffs. The couple stood beneath the romantic chapel afloat a massive koi pond. “Seeing the expression on Roy’s face and the look in his eyes when I arrived was once in a lifetime moment I will remember forever,” Jacinta says. “Roy was captivated by her beauty and just everything about her”, noted one of the groomsmen.
Jacinta describes their vows as “absolutely hilarious.” Their celebrant, Heather Boylan from My Bali Celebrants, had them complete questionnaires and make notes about each other, and she came up with entertaining, personal vows for them to recite. “Everyone was laughing non stop and crying ,” she says.
Guests crowded to shower the newlyweds in roses as they made their way out of the ceremony venue to do photos in the estate and around the Jimbaran neighbourhood. “Hey Leonardo” from Blessed Union of Souls was the song they chose for this beautiful moment.
Cocktail hour was held overlooking the estate's Limestone cliff, on sculpted grass terraces that lead down to the Reception area . “We actually extended cocktail hour to one-and-a-half hours because the sunset was too pretty to walk away from,” the bride says. Guests were served with delicious signature cocktails and assorted hors d'oeuvres.
Once at the reception venue, guest found their seat assignments printed on a board. Guests headed one floor down to dinner under the stars, with string lights and illuminating the cliffs, while abundant candlelight danced on the tables below.” Tables were set with water glasses and single-stem arrangements by adorning it gold lanterns with candles, clear small vases with pampass, black florals and large roses. “The bright plums, oranges, and reds really gave the dinner that garden party-esque aesthetic,” says the bride.
The pyros went off and the announcement of Mr & Mrs Wills to “First Date” by Blink 152. “The energy was so high. You could feel the love.” , noted planner, Tristan Moy.
“Our planner organised a wonderful florist and really brought to life the sensual colour palette of black, deep plum, blush, gold and ochre. , Jacinta says “It was beyond what I had imagined. Totally beautiful.”
According to Tristan, the couple wanted food to be served "all night so that our guests wouldn't go hungry from all the dancing!" And with this menu, created by Opia Bali, we can't imagine anyone was hungry afterward. After a three course dinner of ceviche, short ribs, signature duck and pork belly fusion dish., the guests enjoyed another round of savoury snacks after the three-tiered custom wedding cake from the cake maestro, Butter Bali. The cake featured three flavors: chocolate with salted caramel, white chocolate with buttercream and red velvet cream cheese.
Beyond great food, the couple wanted to ensure a great party, and it ended with a DJ organized by our planners that understood our crowd and played music that we love.
The newly weds shared their first dance, Africa by Toto , then hit the dance floor with their friends. “It was indescribable to see everyone we love in one place, belting the lyrics to the songs, dancing and was having the best time and at the most stunning venue- I just don’t think I can even explain how magical it was!
The bride's top tips for fellow brides-to-be? "Don't forget to take it all in and enjoy every minute," she notes.
