Rachael & Gareth
Gareth proposed to Rachael in Queenstown.
“We went to celebrate my 30th birthday and stayed at the gorgeous Kinross Vineyard, taking along our dog, Luther, too. So it was a picture perfect holiday already, but for my birthday Gareth surprised me with a helicopter trip which resulted in a proposal at the top of Cecil Peak. He didn't have to persuade me to marry him but he did need to entice me out of the helicopter to stand on a mountain as I'm actually scared of heights” said Rachel
Next on the docket? A larger-than-life destination wedding in Bali. “We loved the intimacy of a ceremony and wanted to celebrate with our favorite people,” Rachel says “It was a dream to have a wedding and to celebrate with everyone!” We loved how the venue has unique spaces which also flow so seamlessly, allowing for that feeling of connection. This was especially important to us as we were bringing together friends and family from different sides of the world, most having never met before.
The aesthetic they went for was a modern classic style, the venue already has so much wow factor!
The couple stuck to a color palette of gold, white and a variety of tans to keep things “very neutral, but impactful,” notes the bride. The stunning chapel reminded us of the Mediterranean so the pink arch contrast was there to kind of emulate the contrast of buogainvillea against the quaint white buildings you would see in places like Spain and Greece.
As soon as she saw this @madewithlove dress bridal, Rachel knew it was the perfect look for her.. The white silk gown with long sleeves effortlessly hung off one shoulder—and was hers in a flash. Her beautiful white Ankle-tie point-toe pumps from Asos, added a little something extra to her look.
For her big-day hair and makeup, Rachel says the keyword was “effortless.” “I knew we would be outside for the entire evening and I just wanted to look elevated, but natural,” she says. Dollface Darlings, hair and makeup artist styled her and Rachel also managed an almond-shaped milky white manicure completed her look.
The groom opted for a tuxedo from Hugo Boss, which he paired with shoes and belt from Hugo Boss.
Rachel and Gareth’s wedding ceremony was a beautiful celebration of love. Surrounded by family and friends, the couple exchanged heartfelt vows under a canopy of pink bougenvilla arch, adding to the magic of the moment. Their ceremony was intimate and personal, blending traditional elements with modern touches that reflected their unique love story. As the golden sunset bathed the venue in soft light, Rachel and Gareth sealed their promises, beginning a new chapter of their lives together in the most breathtaking setting.
Equally as important for the feeling of connection was the FOOD! We're all about the food! It was a high priority for us and another reason we chose Puri Temple Hill and Opia Bali as our venue.
As for the drink menu? Guests—armed with custom fans to beat the Bali heat—sipped on lychee martinis and Ginbaran.
Lastly, I'm an old soul, so I envisaged a band from the beginning over a DJ - when I showed Gareth a clip of the band it was an instant approval so we booked them right away and we are so glad we did as from our very first dance everyone, literally everyone, was up dancing alongside us from that point on.
